Dutch Bucket System

The Dutch bucket system, also known as the Bato bucket system, is an efficient and space saving hydroponic method. The Dutch bucket system grows plants by using independent containers (buckets), each equipped with growth media and drip irrigation systems. These buckets are connected to a central nutrient reservoir, forming a closed-loop system that maximizes the use of water and nutrients. Because of its efficiency and scalability, this Dutch bucket system has become one of the most popular hydroponics products for sale for greenhouse and commercial growers.

The working principle of the Dutch bucket system is based on flood irrigation buckets. The Dutch bucket system includes a dedicated 'reservoir' where sufficient water and water culture components are mixed to feed each bucket in the system. The pump delivers water to the irrigation pipeline, and as it flows down the pipeline, it drips out from the drip emitters above each bucket. Plants absorb the water and excess water is discharged into a shared drainage pipe and brought back to the "reservoir" to form a recycling system.
